Abstract: The full length cDNA of a human novel gene was cloned from human fetal cDNA library, and was named zinc-finger protein 418 (ZNF418) as approved by the Human Gene Nomenclature Committee. ZNF418 gene is located on Chromosome 19q13.43, and encodes a protein consisting of 676 amino acid residues and containing a KRAB motif and 17 tandem C2H2-type zinc-finger motifs. Northern blot results shows that the gene is expressed in multiple examined adult tissues. Subcellular location study indicates that ZNF418¨CEGFP fusion protein is mostly distributed in the nucleus. These results suggest that ZNF418 is a potential transcriptional factor.
