Abstract: The effect on preserving table eggs and compromising fertile eggs were studied using γ-ray of 60Co. It was indicated that the bacteria could be killed completely both inside and outside the eggs when used 7 Gy. At the same time the result of keeping fresh was bad, although the dose was 4 Gy. The hatchability of fertile eggs was 71.8 %～13.3 % when irradiated with 3 Gy~11 Gy. There were no parameters published to describe the compromising effect when irradiating fertile eggs. The decline extent of hatchability comparing with control group was put forward in order to use it as a parameter to choose the dosage of irradiation in transgenic chicken field.
