Abstract: The study was conducted to investigate the effect of different levels Nano-Se on growth rate, anti-oxidation function, growth hormone and insulin concentration in the goats. A total of 90 male goats with approximate body weight were allotted to the 9 groups randomly. Eight different levels Nano-Se were respectively supplemented to eight test groups in a dosage of 0.03mg, 0.05mg, 0.1 mg, 0.3 mg, 0.5mg, 1 mg, 3 mg, 5mg Nano-Se per kilogram diet dry matter respectively. Whole feeding experiment lasted for 95 days. Growth rate were very markedly higher than control group (P<0.05) at concentration range of 0.3 mg/kg DM ~1 mg/kg DM for Nano-Se; Serum glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity were very markedly higher than control group(P<0.05 ), which remained steady at the peak value at concentration range of 0.3 mg/kg DM ~1 mg/kg DM for Nano-Se. Serum glutathione-S-transferase (GST) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA)concentrations were markedly lower than control group (P<0.05), which kept the lowest value at concentration range of 0.3~1 mg/kg DM for Nano-Se; Blood selenium concentration, serum growth hormone and insulin concentration significantly higher than control group (P<0.05). It is concluded that supplementation of Nano-Se can improve the anti-oxidation function, increase growth hormone and insulin concentration, and increase growth rate in the goats. Supplementation level of Nano-Se is 0.3~1mg Nano-Se per kilogram basal diet for goats.
